Pot smokers and public pissers.

It’s truly pitiful that I’m more often than not too lazy to update this blog. I’ve been Twittering more often lately, but it’s lost its cool this week as I’ve come to the conclusion that the website is a horrific piece of shit. Every time I go to pretty much any page, I get redirected to the “something is technically wrong” page. Something has been technically wrong for quite a while now. Seriously, how is this not fixed?

I have no faith in their competency, so I don’t know that I’ll end up keeping up with it much anymore or not. Which is a shame, it started out so fun. Eh, they get their shit together and I stop seeing those messages every single day, perhaps I’ll get over it.

I have a couple ridiculous stories about my apartment complex. For a bit of background, I live in a primarily “college” town, as Texas A&M University is the main attraction around here. However, Andy and I live in a newer area, in some pretty nice apartments that were built around 2001. We’ve been there in a 3rd floor apartment since May 2005, and for the most part it’s been noticeably different than our last apartment complex, where the majority of the residents were students. It’s usually tame here, and many residents are older.

Anyway. We’ve had some new people move in below us, and I could swear that it’s a couple with children, perhaps 5 to 8 years old. Something like that. And interestingly enough, since they’ve moved in, on several occasions I have noticed a rather strong smell of pot.

Whatever, I don’t particularly care what people do, but you know, I’d rather not smell it. But even if I just smell it in passing, that’s not such a big deal.

Well, last week we had very nice weather and I’ve been leaving the balcony sliding-door cracked open. One evening, I stepped out for not more than 10 or 15 minutes, come back and the apartment is filled with smoke and completely reeks of pot. Absolutely and utterly nasty smell; seriously, I’m actually surprised the smoke detectors didn’t go off.

I was very, well, verbal and stomping, when I discovered this, and I think the people below must have heard me (I hope they fucking did), because soon the smell dissipated outside and then eventually I was able to air out the apartment. And I haven’t smelled anything fishy since.

But this whole thing really leaves me wondering. First, who in their right mind smokes pot outside in the open in a populated yuppy apartment complex? That’s just stupid right there. Two, don’t these people have children?

I’m not completely sure it was the people right below us doing the smoking, but I can’t make sense of it being anyone else due to the intensity of the smell.

It crossed my mind that maybe the person has cancer or glaucoma or something? I don’t know, I can’t imagine too many college-aged potheads being stupid enough to smoke out in the open like that. It’s just asking for trouble.

Okay, story two. This Friday, Andy went out and came home sometime after mid-night. He tells me that when he pulled up to park, there was a strange guy standing outside near a small (non-bushy!) shrub/tree. Can you guess what this guy was doing? I did, and frankly, it’s quite sad that I did.

He was taking a pee.

Now, how does this make any sense? First, we’re in a gated apartment complex. This guy would have to either live here or be visiting someone. Either way, can he not use the damn toilet? Second, I like how he choose a small, bare shrub out in the middle of the open parking area to do his business, where if he really wanted to pee outside, it would have made much more sense to go by one of the giant trees in the back, where probably no one would have noticed.

I honestly do not know what is wrong with these loons.

People are stupid these days. I know this has nothing to do with anything but in the 80′s people didn’t know what p.m.s. was so when people started driving off of bridges with their swawn in the cars they started to think somethin was wrong.yep. it was crazier back then, at least when it came to p.m.s.

So, I’m sitting here doing the whole “not allowed internet trafficking” at work (it’s been a HORRIBLE shift with us being short 3 nurses and a CNA).. I needed a break – trust me LOL, and I came across ktroxells reply and I die laughing at the cpu screen next to my charge nurse :0!!!!!
I had tears from trying to hold it in – I read it twice and laughed AGAIN – WTH is a swawn?!?!?! rofl – spawn maybe? (possibly reference to the Susan Smith case??
    I’m dying here!
I would actually like to have some second hand pot to smell verses the shit (and yes that is literall) that I have had to smell tonight – lol
Men who pee in public deserved whacked in the privates with some poison ivy… >D

God, I know how you feel.

My grandma lives, basically, down the street from San Diego State Uni. And her neighborhood has atleast five houses filled with college students. Last year during the California wildfires, my family had to evacuate (our house is fine, just so you know. =D) and every single night, the students next door held parties. Everynight. From 10 till morning. It was horrible. =/

Oh wow, I don’t know how your Grandma stands it all the time!

Really glad your house is okay—very scary!

I feel your pain! Being someone who has lived in apartments, pretty much all my life, I have come across things exactly like the cases you’ve mentioned, and if not worse ones. I think its something about having so many people living crammed so closely together that brings out the weirdos, no matter how nice the complex is. I too currently live in an upstairs apartment with my hubby, and we also live directly below a pothead couple with children, and any time I go down the stairs (past their patio and door) the pot smell is enough to make someone choke! I agree with you all the way, pot has to be one of the nastiest smells ever!!!! I personally think its right up there with skunk stink. Its odd, because all the couples I have come across that smoke weed always have kids, why is that? Weird…

Skunk stink — it’s funny you mention that, because that’s exactly how I described it after it happened. There really is a strong similarity between skunk and old pot smell. LOL.

I dunno, I actually hate cigarette stench much, much worse; however pot smell is usually way more immediately intense.

Just hope they are not a fan. :D

What an interesting place you live. I don’t know how you put up with that pot smell for a moment. God, it stinks worse then five men dancing closely with insanely bad BO!

    Hey Jac,
That is some of the most bizarre crap I have heard of in a while! I’m not a nagger, but would have reported them to the office so damn fast. As you well know, I too, live in Texas (Kingwood) in what we call a ‘college area’ in a town home on the 2nd story. We just move here from Atascocita, TX in April b/c I could literally ride a bike (although I’m too lazy too *winks*), to the college. Anyway long story short, when we got here; the very 2nd day we saw a young college student making a delivery of pot right underneath our balcony! I too, have to suffer from smelling the sh*t. It drives be bÖnkers! What ever happen to “That 70′s Show” when students smoked pot in a basement? NOT balconies! XD

LMAO–you said it–who does that out in the open like that! And it’s not like it was even late at night. XD

Good luck with your neighbors. Luckily I have not smelled pot again near our building since this incident–I’m quite sure they heard me–good thing!

i agree that it is rude for them to smoke pot right under your porch while your doors are open, but i love how everyone has come to the conclusion that they are terrible people/parents because they smoke pot.

  14. Jaclyn June 8th, 2008 3:11 am

I don’t think at all that someone is a terrible person because they smoke pot. Frankly, I don’t think pot is on a completely different playing field than drinking alcohol.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that it is illegal at the moment, and smoking it outside isn’t exactly bright or appropriate. Like I said above–I don’t care what people do really, just don’t be a complete moron about it.

And it’s not every day you see someone with little kids smoking it up in public; I don’t think that is appropriate, just as I don’t think getting drunk or smoking a pack of cigarettes around young kids is appropriate.

Not to mention it stinks like no tomorrow — which leads me to think they are ridiculous (read: not exactly terrible) for smoking it on the balcony like that.

May I hang out at your place and catch a buzz? Then we’ll go hunt down the mother huggers and confiscate their stash. It’s for their own good and that of the apartment complex!

I just hope it’s not my 86 year old parents. If it is, all bets are off. Keeping them high keeps them off the Internet, slows them down from uploading porn of themselves practicing positions from the Kama Sutra book I gave them for ChrisKawanaKuh.

aww… that’s just terrible. I would probably call the cops if my apartmant was full of pot smoke XD

but LMAO LMAO @ ktroxell’s reply. I haven’t laughed that hard in… a while XDD AHAHAHAHAH!!
